We are very much a dairy farm at the forefront of our industry. Five years ago we created a fabulous milking environment for our cows by building a state-of-the-art rotary parlour. Since then we have been developing our farm and striving for fantastic quality milk. It is of course this milk that we use to make Granny Gothards ice creams.
Our milk and cream are fresh, straight from the cows, at morning milking. It is the fantastic feedback we receive from our customers about our ice creams that makes those early mornings all the more worthwhile!
Of course not all our equipment is state-of-the-art; we find the traditional methods still have their place on our farm - carrying milk to the baby calves.
Our farm won the prestigious Pfizer Milk Quality Award in 2003, making Anthony the youngest ever farmer to win. Since then we have earned several farm management awards - most recently 'Farmer of the Future 2008' - and Granny Gothards has also recently been recognised for its outstanding quality.
We are now in our fifth farming generation, with Father and Grandfather still actively working on the farm. It is this strong family heritage that has helped maintain the farm alongside our ice cream business and ultimately into the success they both are today.
Our Old Dairy Parlour was converted into the modern, inspiring and clean environment that is Granny Gothards HQ, affectionately known as 'The Ice Pod'. This was finished in December 2005 and we have been creating and producing delicious ice creams and sorbets since then.
Our Gorgeous black and white cows are at the heart of our business. We pride ourselves on great animal welfare, comfort and stress-free surroundings. We are also involved in farm environmental schemes to promote natural habitats for wildlife on the Levels.
